ABSTRACT
Research Background: Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) and iodine deficiency disorders (IDD) are the largest nutrition problem in Indonesia. Hypothyroidism and iron deficiency may influence each other. The most people who have a high risk of suffering from IDD and IDA are school-age children.

Purposes: knowing the effects of iodine on hemoglobin level changes among children of IDD Patient in primary school (SD).

Methods:
This research used experimental research which double blind randomized controlled trial design. The subjects were the students of class 3, 4 and 5 of the six primary schools in Cangkringan which is an IDD endemic area. The research subject amount to 74 persons and 37 of them were given iodine + eggs, and 37 others as controls. IDD position measurements palpation and iron levels (haemoglobin) with cyanmethemoglobin method. The datas were analyzed with independent sample t-test and Chi-square, by using some programs of computer.

Results: from 74 subject’s persons which suffering with IDD, 3 subjects of them are anaemic. The result analysis showed that iodine supplementation has no effect to increase the levels of Hb (p > 0.05).
Conclusion: Iodine supplementation has no effect in the increase of Hb
